plants to 20-foot trees for interiorscaping. We also handle garden accessories,
fertilizers, insecticides, pottery, wicker, saucers and pot covers,
leafshine, soil and charcoal.
Tropical Gardens has been in operation since 1978 and incorporated in
1983. Our
service area includes: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South
Dakota, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Our customers number
in excess of 1000 and include florists, greenhouses, interiorscapers
and mass merchants. Delivery of our product is accomplished with our
fleet of showroom sales trucks, complete with skylights and self-contained
heating.
Our Wisconsin facility
offers 40,000 square feet of greenhouse space and 20,000 square feet
of office and warehouse with an additional loading dock facility. In
Florida, we have a sister company with a complimentary 467,000 square
foot facility.
Our current mode
of operation is through showroom-style trucks that are 20% loaded with
pre-sold items and 80% loaded with available product to choose from.
The available product is chosen by the customer upon the truck's arrival.
Product delivered is invoiced at the customer's store. Trucks leave
Sunday afternoon or Monday morning, returning Thursday or Friday. Customers
are called by route the week before truck service. Our phone sales team
calls route customers with a selection of items. Our greenhouse crew
packages and manifests plants to each salesperson's section.
